The Smart Start® starter shingle by Malarkey Roofing Products is a high-quality accessory roofing product that is designed to increase protection against moisture intrusion and blow-off. The starter shingle is made with NEX® Polymer Modified Asphalt and high-grade, rubberized adhesive for exceptional seal-down, providing increased wind protection at the eave and rake edges of the roof. The shingle is larger in size than standard shingles and is adhered with rubberized adhesive to provide exceptional seal-down and wind protection. It is recommended for use under Malarkey shingles at the eave to provide a secure seal between the starter and first course shingles, helping prevent blow-offs and moisture intrusion on steep slope roofing.
